A former police officer in Guyton is now facing serious legal charges for lying under oath.
An Effingham County grand jury indicted Joseph Coppola, the former interim police chief, for perjury. The indictment stems from allegations that Coppola lied under oath about a debt he claimed belonged to his deceased father.
