Jacksonville Sheriff's Office makes arrests in 2 recent, high-profile cases |
Jail records show a man accused of causing a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 295 last week that killed a 66-year-old man has been arrested. The case drew attention across the area after police said the man, who had been driving a stolen truck the wrong way on the highway, jumped the concrete median after the crash, attempted multiple carjackings and was last seen riding on the outside of a semi that had driven through the area. Another arrest that captured widespread attention yesterday involved a 28-year-old man accused of shooting his mother to death and leaving her covered with a blanket in the backyard of a home near Durkeeville.
