Wacona Elementary School, which is located in the 3100-block of State Street in Ware County, was burglarized during the early-morning hours of Saturday, December 14, 2024. Several wrapped Christmas presents for the children were opened and their contents were stolen. Multiple Christmas cards were also opened and the items inside were stolen. A Coach-brand bag, a guitar, and other items of value were taken.
The Ware County Schools Police (SROs) requested that Ware County Sheriff’s Office investigate the burglary.
Ware County Sheriff's Office Detective Dakota York responded to the scene, and he was assigned to investigate the case. Det. York has developed probable cause (based mainly upon surveillance video of the burglary incident) to seek and obtain multiple felony arrest warrants from a Ware County magistrate for the following suspect:

Sheriff Carl James said of the incident: “Crimes of this type are truly damaging at any time of year, but they are especially hurtful during the Christmas season. Several of my Detectives have called the suspect’s behavior in this case as “grinch-like” in nature, and I can’t disagree. I sincerely hope someone comes forward with the suspect’s whereabouts so he can quickly be taken into custody.”
If citizens have information as to the suspect's location, they are asked NOT to approach the suspect and call 911. If someone with information wishes to remain anonymous, the Ware County Sheriff's Office Tip Line is available and can be reached at 912-287-TIPS(8477).
