JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A small commuter plane that crashed in western Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome was located Friday on sea ice, and all 10 people on board were dead, authorities said. The crash was one of the deadliest in the state in the last 25 years.

Rescuers were searching the aircraft’s last known location by helicopter when the wreckage was spotted, said Mike Salerno, a spokesperson for the U.S. Coast Guard. Two rescue swimmers were lowered to investigate.

A photo provided by the Coast Guard showed the plane’s splintered body and debris lying on the sea ice. Two people in brightly colored emergency gear circled the wreckage.

City of Savannah temporarily shuts down iconic Forsyth Park fountain

The City of Savannah announced the move Monday.

Savannah's iconic Forsyth Park water fountain will be shut down for the next several days.

The City of Savannah announced the move Monday.

The fountain will be turned off for annual maintenance from Monday until Saturday.

City crews from the Park & Tree Department will conduct routine cleaning, repairs, and repainting.

At least one walkway will be open around the fountain at all times. One walkway will be partially blocked for a few hours during the scheduled maintenance.

The Wheeler County Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Hawkinsville likes a good challenge.

Wheeler County is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Dublin just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 70-61 to the Fighting Irish. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 156th).

Meanwhile, Hawkinsville was able to grind out a solid win over Wilcox County on Saturday, taking the game 51-43.

Hawkinsville's win came from a few key players Wheeler County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kamari Blackshear, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Mcdonald, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Ware County won the last time they faced Perry and things went their way on Saturday too. The Ware County Gators strolled past the Perry Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 65-48. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Panthers are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ware County is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Perry, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-10.

As of now, neither Ware County nor Perry have any future games scheduled.
